Terminator Salvation

Fri May 22, 2009, 6:42 PM
I thought it was a great movie. I didn't loooove it the way I loved Star Trek, but I definitely enjoyed it. When the credits rolled, I left the theater with a sense of fanboy satisfaction. I wanted some gritty "future war" robot fightin', and that's exactly what I got. (I liked the surprise toward the end, too. Very cool.)

For me, Christian Bale was probably the weakest link in the movie. I'm not a Bale hater by any means - I just thought he made a bland John Connor. I think I would've preferred they'd kept Nick Stahl, T3's John Connor. But on the flip side of all that, I liked the secondary characters a lot. Sam Worthington brought a ton of charisma, and I was pretty impressed by young Kyle Reese (who, strangely enough, is the same actor who plays Chekov in Trek).

So, yeah, I liked it. Lookin' forward to T5. Hopefully they give Bryce Dallas Howard more to do next time. I love her.

I gotta agree with you about Bale's Connor, though don't think Stahl would've been any better.

If you're interested, I've posted a review on T4 on my page as well.

hmm I didn't like this movie that much I felt it was just filler and I don't know it felt to this century haha don't know if that makes any sense.

Coraline is the best vampire ever (besides Selene)

I think the weakest part of the movie was the acting done by Michael Ironside. Don't get me wrong, Ironside is a classic actor, but classic for B-List movies. Not A-list like this film. When ever he had lines, it just took me out of the movie because he's such the over-actor.

It was just an okay movie for me. I think Star Trek set the bar for the summer and this one dove beneath it.

I was confused by one minor plot point but I thought it was a solid film.

I don't get the "hate" that's spewing from all the critics mouths....especially those morons over at "Aint it Cool News"......

The only "problem" I see with this film is that it's setup like the begining of a trilogy. A few years back when they announced this film they flat out said they were going to do three.

Even though you know Star Trek is a continuing series the director and writers made the story self contained and gave it their all. With this film it's "Let's just introduce everyone at once and not give any of the characters much to do because we've got three films to achieve our goal. It's a miscalculation on their part.

I can't believe I'm reading people say they should have kept Stahl over Bale, seriously?

How exactly do you expect Connor to act at this point in the timeline. So far he's a grunt and no one but a select few are listening to him. The leaders of the Resistance are boobs and deserve what they get. The guy is beginning to question what his mother told him and what happened in the past. He's probably starting to doubt himself. Yeah, you'd be moody too. Fuck, he and his mom couldn't stop Judgement Day and he's living in a depressing future where everyone around him is dying. I think Bale did a fine job.

I do agree poor Bryce didn't get hardly any screen time and even though we could see she was pregnant I would have liked to have had some mention of it by Connor. This is quite a big surprise becase no where before this movie was it ever mentioned that Connor had any offspring. If the series continues I'd like to know how his kid plays into all of this down the road.

I don't care what anyone says.....I think they did a fantastic job adding Arnie. It's to bad Arnie couldn't record any voice over work. If they added him once they can do it again......and maybe the next time we'll get some lines. :)

I'd give it 2 1/2 stars out of 5. I got my money's worth.

I liked it the best out of all of them, and I thought bale was alright. Kyle Reese was awesome.

i'm with ya...i thought it was great and can't see what all the hate was about...maybe the skynet scenes are a bit convenient for exposition's sake, but overall the movie's pretty cool.
